Solar and wind are useful technologies, but the idea that they could become the primary foundation of a modern industrial society was always an engineering fantasy.
Politicians who embraced this fantasy shut down reliable power, drove up electricity costs, hurt working families, and pushed manufacturing overseas—all while doing far less for the environment than promised.
The proof is simple:
• Even people who live off-grid with large solar arrays keep backup generators because batteries run out during extended clouds, winter, or high demand.
• Even Tesla’s factories rely heavily on the electrical grid and dispatchable power—they do not run continuously on solar alone.
The answer was never to replace reliable baseload power with weather-dependent energy. It was to build more nuclear and use renewables where they actually make sense.
That’s engineering—not ideology.
