Most know the rot that has consumed the nation’s capital over the decades. The abandonment of standards and Washington’s lack of responsiveness to urban issues, while fixating on every international hiccup, does nothing to help the problems most Americans deal with. The ever-increasing rules and regulations that D.C. vomits out almost daily from the orifices of endless federal agencies rob Americans of their liberty, freedom, and prosperity. As cities have eagerly accepted submission or been bludgeoned into submission to the federal capital’s will, they have been sapped of vitality, innovation, and prosperity. Washington, D.C., has long stopped serving the nation, the cities, or the people and now serves only its interests. Unity, melting pot, democracy, one law, justice, freedom, and striving to improve now belong to the bygone years. Today, Washington, D.C., only embraces what grows the power of its agencies, bureaucrats, politicians, and the military. And woe unto those who challenge Washington 2.0.
Washington, D.C., can be likened to a vampire city, positing that all cities, except city-states, are inherently parasitic. The founding fathers of the United States, in not prohibiting a federal capital city, erred grievously. This oversight enabling the federal capital to centralize government functions and craft a capital city spelled doom for the Constitution, city independence, individual rights, and liberty. A parasitic federal capital entity will inevitably overpower every city and state in the nation.
The Achilles Heel of freedom and democracy was never just the bureaucracy becoming tyrannical, but a capital city enabling the would-be tyrants. Washington, D.C., exemplifies this. The city’s federal agencies, and politicians thrive through leeching off other cities, contributing nothing. The economic exchange between the federal capital and cities is a zero-sum game. Once the economic growth slowed in cities, D.C.’s appetite began draining cities. The city’s growth in power and wealth directly correlates with a decline in the economic prosperity and independence of American cities, which grow increasingly subservient.
Given this context, the expectation that elected officials sent to Washington, D.C., will represent their cities’ interests appears delusional. In reality, they inevitably align with the interests of the national capital. They become Washingtonites. This alignment ultimately impoverishes cities and enriches Washington, D.C. Over time, the capital’s focus shifts from the nation’s cities to its own power expansion. This shift leads to policies that detrimentally affect other cities, regardless of their effectiveness. Similarly, federal and most state agencies, feeding off the federal teat, contribute to this dynamic.
As the capital enforces obedience through federal institutions, including the DOJ, FBI, Secret Service, courts, agencies, and the Pentagon, the Constitution and civil liberty gradually cease to be guiding principles. Instead, federal agencies focus on demanding obedience. As Washington, D.C.’s interests increasingly dictate national interests, any deviation by cities, states, or individuals is met with swift ever-increasing retribution. Thus, no entity, whether state, corporation, city, individual, elected official, or news agency, can challenge the capital’s interests without facing severe consequences today. The inevitable subjugation of the Supreme Court is merely a matter of time.
